FTTC81 - Lace and a couple of SCS VSN uploads

This was an interesting Timeless Tuesday Challenge. I had a little trouble with it, only because I am not particularly a Lacy girl.
For my card I used stamps from the Humming Along set, the Lace Edges set, and the Sentiments.

I stamped the main image with Memento and colored with Copics. The colors are Y21, YR61, YR65, R22 and R24. The greens are YG63, 67 and G20. Background is B0000, edging on the cut out image is B00.

To get the lace, I did two different techniques. First, I edged the yellow using a Fiskars punch. Then on the Whimsy DCWV paper stack, and added an edge of lace edging to the bottom and embossed with Whtie Zing. The sentiment is stamped with Versafine and clear embossed as well.

Next I am showing two of my favorite cards that I created during the SCS Virtual Stamp Night. The first one was to create a card using water - not a water scene. So... after much thinking I realized Glimmer Mist is mainly water. YAY. This card was created by spraying three different colors of Glimmer Mist. Green, Pink and Purple. The flowers were also glimmer misted. The background butterfly was a glimmer screen.
The next card is probably my favorite card I created for the  challenges. It was a challenge to use a butterfly (oops... did that above). However, I jsut bought this Hero Arts stamp and was able to use it. I love Theresa's designs and check out her blog "Crafting the Web" every day. So I tried to use her style and create this card. I sponged on the green, blue, pink and yellow colors after I stamped with Versafine and clear embossed it. After I was done I clear embossed it again and then stamped the Ferns from Flourishes set on the background piece. I LOVE how it turned out, and will definitely do this again.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you stop by again soon.

Kenny K - Krafty Girlz Challenge

I decided to take part in Kenny K's challenge this week which was a sketch challenge.  I used Kitty Katastrophe image, and colored her with one of my favorite combination's - green and purple.

Once I colored her, I cut her out - - Probably the hardest part of the whole thing... she is so detailed.  I took the sketch they provided and remembered that I had some animal print carstock stack. The purple and green matched perfectly. I promise I did not pick the colors out based on the cardstock it just happened that way! The black in the center is an edged ribbon.

I punched out a Nestie in black and then put my cutout Kitty on it. I then used pearl lines and lined the inside of the Nestie where she didn't cross over.

I used part of a sentiment stamp and then cut it out with the same type of Nestie and then layered it.

Once I was done with the card, it seemed to be lacking something to me... so I found these flowers I had with pearls and they matched the pearls on the outline, so they went really well. I added some Prima purple roses, and voila. DONE.

The colors I used on her were V12, 15, 17 and YG03, 05, 06 and 25. Her skin is E000, E00, E01 with some R20. All the Black is from the C03, 05, 07 family. The gold is a touch of gold Spica.

She was REALLY so much fun to color.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you come back again soon!

Bombshell Stamps Some Like it Hot, Hot, HOT Hop!

This is my first Blog Hop that I am actively participating in, and I am very excited. The Bombshell Hop Theme for the month of August is Some Like it Hot, Hot Hot... The focus is Summer themes, summer colors, anything Hot.

I couldn't resist coloring this Hot Lil' Devil! He is adorable, and I love coloring with red. The paper was fun to work with as well. It is a specialty paper (the gold) from ANW enterprises that I got at JoAnns. Making Spinner cards is one of my favorite techniques. It is very easy, and adds some interest.

After I colored the images with Copics (R22, 24, 27, 29, C3,5,7) I cut them out with a Nestie.  I then mounted it on red paper and cut it out again with the next size Nestie. I then cut out the piece of gold paper that I wanted, and cut out a hole in the center that was the next size Nestie up and used the same size Nestie to cut out the black card base. I placed thread between the two images and stuck them together back to back. I then ran the thread between the black card base and the gold paper and then mounted them together making sure that the thread was tight so the center would not sag.

Once the card was constructed, I added "flames" at the bottom with gold and red Stickles.

Thank you for stopping by and checking out my card. I hope you come back again!

Now - Onto the rest of the Hop! Here are all the hop participants.

Our Craft Lounge Challenge

I participated in one of these a few weeks ago, and I ended up winning a set from them. I got the set in, and the sketch challenge for this week worked so well with the stamps I received, I had to follow that sketch and make a card. I loved the stamp set with all the Cacti, but it was the rattlesnake wrapped around a heart that just clinched it for me.

I cut out and colored the three small images, and then inked around them with Jumbo Java.  I then cut out the blue gridded paper (from a High School Mat Pack) and inked the edge of it as well.  The ribbon is two different ribbons colored with B95 and 97 Copic markers.

This is a little early for Valentines day (or late... LOL), and isn't exactly the traditional valentines colors, but I am really happy with how it turned out.

Thank you for stopping by. I have another card I did for my brother, but I have to wait until he receives it before I post it. So hopefully in a couple of days I can post it.

Howdy Wolf - Really quick Post

This is one of the newer layering collages from Outlines. I grew up in Arizona and West Texas, so I really love the cacti in this stamp. I colored it with Copics and then cut it apart. I arranged the different elements on a black background card base and added some amber and gold bling to finish it all up.

Thanks for stopping by.

Burlesque Bombshell

Bombshell stamps has a monthly theme challenge. This is the first time I am playing along with them. This months theme is Burlesque.

When I think of Burlesque, I always imagine everything in the vintage sepia and grey tones of old timey photos. For this one, I enlisted the help of a couple of coworkers. I colored up my Angel, and then took her into work. A co-worker talked about velvet drapes, fan dancers and a spotlight on the girl. I took that and ran with it (Thanks Doug). So another friend of mine and I went to JoAnns at lunch and we found this lovely maroon velvet, the feather with the pearl danglies, and the background paper (Thanks Heather).

The lovely lady is colored in all different colors of Grey. I used the W00, W1, W3 for her body, and a little darker W6 and W7 for her hair.  For her outfit I colored everything with C0. Then I edged the rest using C1, C3 and C5. After blending, I wanted to make it look sheer on her... so I went back over it with W1. So in a close up in the middle... it looks like you can see her skin through it.

I added a little RV91 on her cheeks, shoulders, chest, legs and arms to give a little blush. I also went over it on the flower a bit.

My cutting skills were a little rusty when I cut her out.  On her outfit to give the appearance of lace, I added a little detailing above the top and at the legs.

I used a Nestie to cut out the opening for the stage, and the frame for the sentiment. The velvet is draped behind the silver paper frame. The things holding the drapes back I got from Office Max (we went school supply shopping last night).

I hope you like it. My youngest daughter actually asked if she could have it, so I may frame it for her.

Hope you have a nice whats left of the weekend!

Thanks for stopping by!

Flourishes Challenges - two in one

Flourishes has their weekly Timeless Tuesday challenge where Dee is challenging us to use no embellishments (YIKES). They have also started a new challenge this month called Bringing Back Beautiful. This one is challenging us to show off our color (favorite method). Well... that is an easy one - I use Copics. :-)

For this challenge I picked the Beauty Within set.

I colored the roses with the R81, 83, 85, 89 Copics, and the Greens are YG63, 67, 99 and I went over them with YG25 to brighten them a bit. I tried to keep it simple and just used the BG0000 and BG000 on the glass behind. Once I was done, I cut out the image, and then cut several Nesties (two cut with Cuttlebug, the green was traced and then cut out by hand). I wanted to try to mimic the blue in the image, so I took two similar blues, only darker, and cut them out in odd shapes with the edges of Nesties. Then I layered them. I love working with solid cardstock and trying to give it a design paper look. This was all mounted on a white card base.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you back soon.

It has been a long week or so for me. I left a week ago yesterday for Germany for a business trip and returned late Saturday night. Because of that I haven't been able to get much crafty stuff done... Still have a bit of the jet lag. YAWN.

Over the past couple of days I have been working on this lovely lady from Bombshell Stamps. I had her colored, and then I saw the Bombshell August challenge on their forum and decided that I could work with that. Wow... that made it a bit harder, because I could not get it to work for me for such a long time.

From a color standpoint - - the Copics were pretty much the basic E000, E00, E01, R20,22, 24, 27 and C3,5,7,9. I added a bit of the Spica red, black and gold in places.  Her hair is the E31, 33, 35 series.

Once I had her colored, I cut her out with my new Labels 10 Nestie, and left it in the Nestie to color. I then airbrushed with C3 and R24 around the edges to give it a smoky look. I did the same to the sentiment (Our Craft Lounge). I then cut out a bunch of other nesties, added some pearls and some ribbon, and a little starry bling.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you again soon.
