Let's Get Hopping!

Hello my Bombshell friends... it is the last Hump Day of the month and that means Bombshell Bopping - Or Hopping! This month the theme is spray and spritz and paint and get all sorts of messy in your creations.

I have used this lovely heart to create a purple and red blended thingy, and then Spritzed the hell out of it with Glimmer Mist. Purple of course. I did a first layer. Dried it and then did a second with a stencil.

Here is our Hop List. So if you came from Katie's - then keep on a hopping. If you didn't then Bop on over to the Bombshell Blog to start this off at the beginning!

Sweet and Simple and Oh So SPARKLY

When I saw this Saturated Canary image I just HAD to get it. Her hair is adorable, and the look on her face is just precious!!!

This is another one of those color her first and find paper later. I started becoming worried. I made it through about 5 feet of paper before I found this in my stash. WHEW... that was a RELIEF.

I am entering her into the Saturated Canary challenge as well as the Marker Pop challenge. The first is a Glamour and Glitz challenge. And don't you know most little girls like their sparklies - so I added some transparent sparkles on her shoes bow and her heart patch. Adding the twinkle glints paper and the twinklie flowers adds a little more sparkle.

The second challenge - Marker Pop is the Lovely Locks challenge... and I couldn't think of any better image to color for this challenge.

Colors Used:
Skin - YR00, E11, E13
Clothes - B91, 93, 95, 97, G12, 14, 16, 19, 29, R22, 24, 29
Hair - Y11, Y23, E04, E07

OK.. going to go continue to watch the Joss Whedon marathon on Science channel. Dollhouse now... and I guess that means Firefly tomorrow. YAY!

Blingy Christmas in July

Hey there guys. Some of the Challenges that Sassy Studio Designs are sponsoring are these two:

Penny's Paper Crafty , the challenge is "Bling It On"
Crafting By Designs , the challenge is "Anything Goes with a Twist-Christmas in July"

Well - Here is my take on a blingy Christmas in July:

I really dig the blue and pink combos for Christmas. That with white and it is crisp cool fun. :-)

As for colors - well... I am really drawing a blank and I didn't write them down. I know the blues are either B0x family or the BG0x family. The Pinks I do know are RV00, and RV10, 11, 13. I am assuming the skin is YR0000, YR000 and YR00 since it is so light and the hair - Hmmmm... Yeah. Never mind. There is silver sparkle on the hat band and on the buttons. And the pearl snowflakes are just that final touch of cool feeling.

This was a fun card for me because I am really wishing for a deep snow here this year. If only to kill off the mosquitos. ACK.  Although summer is nice for the late nights and all, the mosquitos here are about to take over the world.

OK... I hope you try your hand at one of the two challenges that we are sponsoring. You can win some free digital images if you do! See you all later!Photobucket

Steampunk Squid

So these new Mechanimal stamps from SCACD are so cute!!! And the squid is one of my favorites.

I love the tentacles, and everything. I wasn't so sure about the colors of paper I paired with it, but the Purple definitely needed to be in there due to the purple tentacles. This image actually looks much brighter than it does in person. Hmmmmm.

I tried to make the pearls look a bit like rivets. I think the next time I do this I will maybe use the same colors in the coloring, but go more traditional steampunk with the rest... Uh... is there a traditional steampunk???

Alrighty then... I am entering this into the following challenge:

Chromatic Craze challenge #1

Marie Laveau

Down in Louisiana, where the black trees grow
Lives a voodoo lady named Marie Laveau
She Got a black cat tooth and a Mojo bone
And anyone who wouldn't leave her alone
She'd go (EEEEeeeeee) another man done gone.

This is a new stamp for me, but as I colored her I thought of this song. I love this song - Shel Silverstein knows how to write!!!

Now Marie Laveau's history is ambiguous and full of contradictions. There are various stories about her father (white plantation owner, to free man of color), Her religious practices (Voodoo priestess and devout Catholic), and although the Shel Silverstein version in his song described her as having a "bent bony body and stringy hair"... and "too damned ugly for a rich man like me", she is actually supposed to have been remarkably beautiful. However, I see this image and think of the song.  And it makes me smile - because I actually have the song in my arsenal of music. :-)

The colors used were the V91, 93, 95, 99 for the purples, and the warm greys for her skin and the skulls. I used Y00, 23, 26 for the gold, and the greens are YG91, 93, 95, 97.  Once completed, I went back and used various blues for the dots, and then one of the lighter warm greys to airbrush and soften it a bit.

I am entering this into the following two challenges:

See you all later!!!! I have taken my benadryl and am going to be passing out shortly. :-)

Howdy Howdy!!!

Yup - I said it twice. Cuz I have two - two - two projects for you today.

Bombshell Stamps is celebrating another WACKY holiday!!! Tomorrow is Hammock Day... and we Bombshell Stamps has the perfect set for this - Rise and Shine!!!I went a little Retro on this one.

I based this one on the Color Throwdown Challenge colors this week.  For her hair I used the E44, 47, 49. The blues are B000, B12, 14, 16.The greens are YG21, 23, 25. And her skin is E51. 53. 55 and R20. As soon as I saw the colors, I immediately thought of the DCWV Green Tea Stack. It has such a retro 70s wallpaper look to it. Seriously... I think we had similar wallpaper in a house - only more browns.

My second project today is for Sassy Studio Designs. Sassy is sponsoring TWO challenges today. The first is Challenges 4 Everybody with an Anything Challenge. The second is Crafting When We Can with a Flowers Challenge!  Well I have been at Disney a few days this last week, and had to use that for inspiration. There was a sign on the new construction of a ride that had the quote from the Queen of Hearts. I had to use it.

I hope everyone has a great week!!!

I don't know what I will be doing - But sometime while this is on my blog the next couple of days - I WILL be singing that song with the Tiki Birds. HEE HEE... because I will be in the land of the Mouse, doing all sorts of mousy things.  So it is PERFECT that this is the Muse Monday set! Happy Dance - Happy Dance!
So with this - I bid you adieu - until we meet again.

Song Sung Blue - - -

Love that song. And it fit perfectly with the challenge that Sassy Studio Designs is sponsoring this week - Brown Sugar Challenges is hosting a Shades of Blue challenge.

I decided that I would use the Blues of the B9x family, the B0x family and the B1x family. What was really fun with this was the double sheer of the bubble over the sheer shirt. :-)

Her hair is Y11, Y2x family. The pinks are RV32 and 34.  I then chose a ton of different blue flowers for my garden.  The inside of the card reads Song sung blue - every garden grows one.

I hope you head on over to Sassy Studios and see what all we have to show you for inspiration. Also, have a great time over the next week. I KNOW I will be (Vacation - - WHOOOOOT).

Study Hard - Or Hardly Study

I am not sure which. We had a long discussion tonight with our almost freshman in high  school about the need to study this next year. I am pretty sure we were just talking to a wall, but we will see.

When I looked at this image I colored today, I thought about that conversation. This lady is up for the count - trying to get ready for some major exam... I know it can't be math, because she has no calculator out and everyone knows kids can't do anything without a calculator these days. I think she is probably studying history - I always needed a pillow for that - because I always fell asleep. :-)

Her nightgown was shades of BG7x, her pillow R43, 56 and 59. Her skin is YR000, 00, E11, and then shadowed with BV000. Her hair is Y11 with E2x family, and the bedspread is G82, 85, YG99. I went way more streaky with this one. I was trying to get her hair a tousled, a little tangled look, and then I kind of continued with the streaks. I really love how it turned out.

OK... Thanks for stopping by!

It's Just a Fantasy!!!!!

Sassy Studio Designs is sponsoring TWO new challenges - and both are revolving around Fantasy - HobbyCutz and Glitter N Sparkle. As soon as I saw that the Billy Joel song screamed through my head!!!! So here is my take on the Fantasy theme:

The wings are sparkly as is the doily but it is a little hard to tell. Over the streaks. LOL.

I didn't want to go with the typical Tinkerbell colors, even though I am a FAN of the T-Bell. So I asked my daughter what colors she wanted and she said turquoise. Also, her hair had to be black because it looks like Mickey Ears. The colors I used were BG01, 02, 05, 07 for her dress and boots, E000, E00, E11, V000 for her skin, C3, 5, 7, 9 for her hair. Her lips are RV14 and RV17. And then came the wings. I wanted to go with this variegated look, so streaked the V01, 05, 09s throughout.  On this I worked from the exterior in on all colors moving from Light to dark. Once all done, I went back with the light again.

For the layout of the card I went to the Mojo Monday 300 Celebration sketch (hello have you seen some of their prizes - WOWWWWW). So I am entering this fantasy hoping to win a fantasy prize of my own!

I hope that you check out both challenges above and the Sassy Studio Designs  page to see what the other Sassy ladies have in store for you!!!!

Bombshell Sketch Challenge

Hiya! It is time for our sketch challenge this month and Kathi has wow'ed us again. I have used Hawaiian Girl for this sketch, and it was my first time using this set. I used E51, 53, 55 for her skin, and YG61, 63, 67 for her skirt and the leaves on the tree. The brown of the tree and her hair and the ukulele is E23, 25, 27, 29. The reds are R32, 35, 37, 39.

Now I have seen what some of the other Bombshells have created and I have to say that everyone has great takes on this sketch

I hope you are all having a great weekend. Be safe and Be crafty!

Red - White and Blue Cowgirl

Ms. July, the fabulous Michelle Giraud, has asked us to color our Bombshells up with shades of Red White and Blue!

I love this retro cowgirl set, and coloring her in red white and blue just works right for her. The reds are R24, 27, 29, 39. The blues are B23, 26, 29. I added a bit of sparkly on her stars and fringe.
And of course, I couldn't stop the bling there. Needed some bling on the stars, blingy ribbon and a little extra bling on the reds.
Boom Chicka Boom Boom.  She is all decked out for the Fourth of July here in the states! Hope your weekend is wonderful. See you soon.
