SCACD Digital and Rubber Stamp Hop

Earlier this month SCACD released the Montage collection of rubber stamps, a total of 26 rubber stamps with a contemporary yet classic look that will make them a fantastic addition to your stamping toolbox for years to come. They are available now for purchase HERE both in full sheets and as smaller sets. SCACD has also unleashed 12 fun and fresh SCACD Digital images for purchase HERE.

The SCACD Design Team along with some very cool guests have created a truly fun filled hop showcasing the new SCACD digital and rubber stamps. You should have arrived Delphine's blog. If you missed part of the hop list then check out all the details at the Store Blog today!

I have two projects to share with you today The first is using the absolutely FIN-tastical Wild, Free, Happy Digital Image.

It was a ton of fun to color (hee hee - a ton). Once done, I edged the paper with Silver Stickles, but the same technique can be used with silver embossing powder.

Copic Colors Used:

  • Y32, 35, 38
  • YR61, 65, 68
  • BG70. 72, 75, 78
  • C3, 5, 7
  • RV21, 23, 25, 29

My second project for today is using the new Red Rubber set called Customize Your Koi Pond.

For this project I created the background "water" first, using my airbrush and Copics. B32, 34 and BG32 and 34 were airbrushed onto my typical white paper. I splotched it, so that it would have a mottled look. After that was done, I added the koi fish with Versafine and then clear embossed them. The lily pads were stamped on a separate piece of paper, and then colored with a feathering technique. G20 was the base color, and then I feathered out the G21 from the center of each pad. V20 and 22 were feathered inwards from outside the lily pads. I was trying to mimic some of the pictures I had seen online. The lily pads were cut out and then layered over the koi. The flowers were then airbrushed with the same greens and purples of the lily pads.

The next step on your journey is to visit Suzanne! Her stuff will rock you!

Again, the rubber stamps are available in full and smaller sets at the SCACD Store, and the Digi sets are available for purchase in the Digi section of the store.

International Customers:
The digital images can be purchased HERE.  The new rubber stamps can be purchased at QUIXOTIC PAPERIE for our International Friends.

Thanks and I hope I see you all again soon!

Wacky Holiday - Inspire Your Heart with Art

Inspire Your Heart With Art Day sounds straightforward enough. Go to a gallery, theatre, cinema, or music venue, and soak up the art. Remember the instruction, though: Inspire Your Heart

I decided when I made this project to start with the wings. And then thought hmmmmm these colors. After I was done with the wings, I went through my stamps and picked out the Flower. I was trying to be very open with my choices. I didn't want to be formulaic I guess. I wanted to let it flow... in my way. This is what I ended up with.
Once I had the images picked and colored... I looked through my paper. I found the design paper Front and back. Then I thought again about the project and decided I needed a heart. And then I GASP Cut it out by hand.... Freehand. no drawing, no Spellbinders, no folding the paper in half first. STRESS! WOW! My little lopsided, imperfect, uneven heart. So proud of myself.
In the end, I really like how it turned out. It is different for me, just a mix and match and stuff... but it isn't expected either. So this is how my heart has been inspired. Hope you all get out and inspire your heart!

Animal Instincts Hump Day Hop

Hello and welcome to the first Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop of 2014!  Alison, the Queen Hop Hostess has decreed this month's theme to be Animal Instincts. The challenge for us was to use at least one of the many animals Bombshell has to offer, or one of our animal patterns. There are many sets that could have been used!  And I am the last on the hop... so if you just ended up here because you are lucky and didn't come from Marnie's blog... then I encourage you to start from the beginning!

I used Wild Horse's Digital Stamp! But I added a little twist - or at least a twisted horn! Or should I say 'corn'. I decided that this horse wanted to be a Unicorn... so added that using a copic multiliner.  Then I used a ton of colors (not. HAHAHA). There is B60, 63 for the horse. Then the horn mane and tail have RV11, BV11, Y000,00, and YG11. That's it. Done. I cut her out, and then found the paper etc.... I even made up the layout on my own. :-)

I hope you have enjoyed the hop. And I thank you very much for joining us in our Hump Day tradition!

Polly has a Parchment

He is delightful - with a "Special Delivery" just for you.

One of my favorite things is to merge colors when I am coloring. And this is one of the reasons I adore so many of Susana's digital images. There are so many that are fantastical and really work well with lots of colors.

So here I am feathering colors together - hee hee.... I feathered on some of the feathers. (Obviously I need sleep as I am typing this up). There were several spots on here where I blended colors into each other. The most obvious is the red and yellow on the top of his wing and his head, but the other wing that is holding the parchment has blue fading into green fading into yellow as well.  All of these examples are colors that blend together naturally. There are also a lot of fun techniques with colors that are on the opposite of the color wheel.  One of my favorites is yellow and purple. Those are really rather neat blended together.

I used so many colors. R2x, B2x, YG2x, Y1, and Y2x, E2x and E4x, and Cx series to color this picture. The paper is DCWV Lemon Flower and then embellished with Some Spellbinders cut out.  It isn't easy to see, but the paper is VERY VERY Sparkly. Just like I like it!!!!

The layout is from the Sketch Saturday layout this week.

Hope you are having a great weekend and see you back here again soon.

Romantic Hero

Valentines day is on the way, and it is cold and Romance books are screaming to be read while snuggled up in bed. Tales of Knights and Warriors and their loyal mount.

This Peaceful Warrior has picked up a golden heart for his hero's lady. Add paperflowers, ribbon and a little color, and Voila, a bright and cheerful card for a valentine. And when I say little color, I mean little color. I kept this one fairly simple. I stuck with the browns for the horse, and then added the green leather with gold and silver embellishments on the armor / saddle. the last touch was a little mettalic glittery pen to make the rivets stand out.

Copic Colors used:
YG93, 95, 97, 99
Y11, 21, 23, 26, 28
E31, 33, 35, 37, 39, 49
C1, 3, 5

Now I am going to go and snuggle up and hope that I can thaw out. And it isn't even below zero here. Just in the teens and single digits.

See you again soon.

Muse Monday - Things are coming up Rose

Rose's Portrait is the Muse Monday set for this year. I LOVE coloring Rose!!!!

I made her hair blonde in honor of Rose on Doctor Who - for my daughter who is a huge fan. I did make this a bit different by going around the outer area in N10 after I was done... that gave the black background that I wanted, then I cut her out with a bit of a bigger edge. I really wanted her to POP, and with the light colors of her hair and skin, I thought it needed to be a dark background.

The "background paper" for lack of a better term is just white paper with the large sentiment from the Rose's Portrait set stamped with a very light pink in alternating directions. I liked doing this as it downplayed the white - made it a little less stark - and it incorporated a "sentiment" without it being overly obvious.

The colors used for Rose:
YR000, YR00, E11, R20 (skin)
B91,93,95,97,99 (Blue shawl and eyes)
R81, 83, 85, 89, G82, 85, 99 (Roses and lips)
Y21, 23, 26, 28 (hair)

I hope this has inspired you... Or at least given you some viewing pleasure.

Life is Sketchy

Howdy! It is Wednesday again, and this Wednesday is all about sketches! Bombshell Sketches that is! I had a blast with this one.  There is not much I like better than working with color blocks and cardstock.

For this card I used the Madonna Woodcut stamps. And I colored and glittered and sparkled and shined. Oh - And I followed the sketch - well on its side.

I used B41, 45, 37 for the blues, Y32, 35, 38 for the Yellows and V12, 15, 17, 09 for the Purples. I also used a LOT of stickles to give it some pretty. (More on that on Friday).

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon!

January - Puttin on the Glitz

It is time for the Ms. January's Challenge. And she has issued such a GLITZY challenge. Love, love, love the Glitz.

Well I just got me some new Bombshell stamps (new to me at least) and inked it up immediately. I used the Panther from  Panther Tattoo and Banner Sayings  to create this clean and simple and glitzy card.

I stamped the main image on the paper using versafine black. Then I used a disco black embossing powder to make him all shiny happy. Then I added all sorts of different bling all over it. Simple, easy and oh so sparkly!

Check out the Bombshell Blog and See all the fun stuff and try your hand to win a chance at some new free rubber!!!!

Sparkly Stickly Skully

My hopes and dreams of a productive Vacation came crashing down with the arrival of the dreaded Christmas Cold. Which turned into the Christmas Sinus Infection, slightly improved for New Years Eve and then became the 2014 Bronchitis. Wheeeeee.

So this is the first card I have made in like FOREVER. Be gentle with me kind readers!

I made this with the SCACD Sugar Zen Skull.  I love the Asian feel to it, and the fact that there are Koi AND a dragon on here. Wheeeee...

The first thing I did (after I stamped it of course) was to color it with my Copics (surprise there - I think not). I colored it a few weeks ago and do not remember all of the colors - but I do know I used the BG02, 05, 07 09 for the turquoise colors and the Warm Greys for the skull. I cut it out yesterday and then I chose a layout (Mojo Monday 326 Sketch).  But lo and behold the Color Throwdown for this week includes TWO of the colors I used as primary colors. WOO HOO. Lets focus on that!

Once I had all of my elements together, I thought it was missing something. Something Elemental. Something Sparkly and Shiny. So I pulled out my stickles and went to town. I think it totally changed the entire feel of the card.

For those of you interested in SCACD stamps including this Sugar Zen Skull - Susana closes her store over the Holidays to focus on her family, but it is getting ready to re-open in a couple of days, and she has some great new things coming out!

OK. So, New Year - new sets of crafty things.  I have a few things up my sleeve for the coming month or two. I will have a tutorial posted mid-month for Bombshell Stamps, and some just fun stuff with new to me stamps over the next few months. This last year has been a doozy, but this coming year WILL calm down some. Or Else!

See you all again soon!
